Activate your license

Paste a key on first launch, save the recovery code, land in the main UI.

Macropod runs sealed until you paste a license key. The key arrives by email after checkout. You paste it once, save the recovery code, and the cockpit opens. The whole flow is under a minute on a working connection.

  1. License gate at first launch

First launch shows the gate before anything else loads. The card is titled "Activate your copy" and asks for one thing: your license key. Capitalisation does not matter; paste the key whole from the email. A small machine ID is shown below the input. That is the fingerprint Macropod registers for this PC.

  2. Paste the key, hit Activate

The Activate button reaches the license server and writes a signed token back to your machine. Once it lands, the gate steps aside and the cockpit (the main UI) loads. Each license covers two active devices at a time. If you have hit that limit on a different PC, deactivate one of them first and click Re-check here.

Activation lands on the main UI.
  3. Save the recovery code

Right after the first activation, a modal titled "Save your recovery code" hands you an eight-segment string starting with MP1. Hit Copy, then save the code outside this PC: a password manager, a printed note, both. The modal makes you type it back to confirm; any spacing or dashing is fine. Macropod does not keep the code on disk, only files encrypted with it. Lose the code and a future migration export cannot be opened on a new PC.

Recovery code modal shows once on first activation.
  4. Where to find the license panel

The license lives in Settings, under About. Click Show on the About row to expand it. The license line shows your status (Activated, offline grace, or expired) and a "Deactivate this PC" button. Deactivating frees the slot so another device can take it. Bindings, profiles, and macros stay on disk; only the registration is released.

Lost the key? The gate has a "Resend it to the email you used at checkout" link. The same recovery flow lives at the storefront under Recover.
